Play
is a Child’s work..
The Early Years Foundation Stage is now part
of the National Curriculum for England. It covers education
for children aged from birth to five years and outlines the
early learning goals which most children are expected to achieve
by their fifth birthday.
At Daintry Hall we firmly believe that children
learn most effectively through play. They learn through engaging
with people and their environment using all their senses.
The rural situation of the nursery itself provides a rich
source of learning within the curriculum, where children are
encouraged to explore and investigate their surroundings.
These early experiences lay a secure foundation for children’s
future learning. All six areas for development are equally
important and depend upon each other to support a rounded
approach to child development:
The six areas of learning
are...
Communication, Language & Literacy
Physical Development
Creative Development
Personal, Social & Emotional Development
Problem Solving, Reasoning & Numeracy
Planning involves the nursery team, parents
and children creating a broad, balanced & flexible curriculum,
which encourages child initiated play, supported by an adult
to ensure each child’s individual needs are met. A Dance
& French Teacher offer weekly lessons for the children
within the nursery during term time alongside a Music &
Movement class, ‘Jo Jingles’, which complement
the nursery curriculum.
A Developmental Profile is compiled during your
child’s time with us at Daintry Hall. Photographs and
observations are compiled at different stages; parents are
encouraged to contribute to this alongside the Key Person.
As your child leaves the nursery and makes the transition
to school or another setting, the profile is yours to keep
to share with other professionals and as a reminder of your
child’s time at Daintry Hall! |
