Congeton Nursery: Play
is a Child’s work...
The Early Years Foundation Stage is now part of the National Curriculum for England. It covers education for children aged from birth to five years, and outlines the early learning goals which most children are expected to achieve by their fifth birthday.
At Daintry Hall we firmly believe that children learn most effectively through play. They learn through engaging with people and their environment using all their senses. The rural situation of the nursery itself provides a rich source of learning within the curriculum, where children are encouraged to explore and investigate their surroundings. These early experiences lay a secure foundation for children’s future learning. All six areas for development are equally important and depend upon each other to support a rounded approach to child development:
The six areas of learning
are...
Communication, Language & Literacy
Physical Development
Creative Development
Personal, Social & Emotional Development
Problem Solving, Reasoning & Numeracy
Planning involves the nursery team, parents and children working together to create a broad, balanced & flexible curriculum. Your child’s Key Person will take careful account of your child’s interests, home environment, cultural & social background and stage of development in tailoring the curriculum to meet their individual needs. Weekly sessions with Louise Carter a qualified Dance Teacher, Linda Brooks from Jo Jingles and Elise Cook from Stretch & Grow, compliment the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum within the nursery.
A Portfolio entitled ’All about me,’ is compiled during your child’s time with us at Daintry Hall. Photographs and observations are collected at different stages; parents are encouraged to contribute to this alongside the Key Person. As your child leaves the nursery to attend school or another setting, the portfolio will assist other professionals in providing a smooth transition for your child. The portfolio is yours to keep as a reminder of your child’s time at Daintry Hall! |
